Thermal papers are those papers that are produced with chemicals which make them to change color when they are heated up to the melting point of the chemicals. The heating results in some chemical reaction between the acidic compound or matrix and the dye that are used in making the surface of the paper. Some of the thermal papers available today change to black when they are heated up while there are some that turns to red or blue.
Thermal paper was originally designed to be used for copying. This was achieved then with the aid of infrared light in the machine. The infrared was used to heat up the thermal paper to the melting point of the chemicals used in producing them in order to cause the chemical reaction that produces the change in color. Under this system a document was placed on top of a thermal paper. When the thermal paper became heated up what was written in the document will be copied to another blank paper under the thermal paper. With improved technology, many thermal devices have been produced. The process of copying has improved. Fax Machines
Prior before improvement in fax machines, they were using thermal paper. Even today, there are some models of fax machine that are still using thermal paper. The thermal paper which is in roll are kept in the fax machine, when fax massages come, the features in the machine will print the message on the thermal paper which by them has been heated up to copy the message.
Lottery Tickets
Lottery is one of the avenues through which organization and even government source for fund for a public course. With improvement in thermal device and thermal paper lottery tickets can be generated today using thermal paper. The improvement in the thermal paper ensures that the skin oil will not react with chemicals in the thermal paper.
Portable Printers
There are some brands of pocket printers that use thermal paper. These machines do not use thermal papers that are in form rolls rather they make use of thermal papers that are in sheet form.
ATM
Automated teller machines popular known as ATM makes use of thermal paper. ATM is an essential machine in the world today. It makes people to have access to money without queuing up in the banking hall. Normally, when a transaction is completed using ATM machine a receipt is given to the person that performs the transaction. Thermal paper is used to print out the receipt.
POS
POS is an acronym for portable point-of-sale device. This type of device can be of different types. Most of POS use thermal paper to print out receipt to people that performs one transaction or the other. A typical example of POS is pocket credit devices.
