Paper product industry is a specialize industry that caters the supply of paper needs of every individual or any other industry. There are bond papers, linen papers, embossed typed of papers that comes in different thickness. In the business industry, we need to preserve printed data. Thermal paper is a special kind of fine paper. It is actually a copy paper. It has been used since mid-1950s. The idea of Xerox copier or duplicating machine was from the copy being produced from thermal paper. The main idea was the same but the processing is actually different since in using thermal paper the image copied or produced is caused by the infra-red radiation. When a document is copied it has to pass a special roller wherein the ink of the original document will absorb the infra-red radiation. After that it will pass on and radiate again as heat wherein a chemical reaction will produce a copy of the image of the original document.
The use of thermal paper started when facsimile machines were first used. For any business, you cannot rely on the print out from thermal papers since they won’t last. If you will file the document, you will notice that as months goes by the printing fades and the paper would change its color. This would make it more difficult to identify the image on the copy received and printed on a thermal paper. The documents received from fax machines is not a good source for future use. If the document you received is important and you need it as a reference for future use, it is necessary to have it copied on a more reliable paper material that won’t fade with the use of a stable copying machine. If you still intend to file the copy, it will affect the adjacent paper. As you store the thermal paper, the chemical composition on the paper will react and will affect the other paper. It is best that you file it in a separate folder. Make sure that this will only be used for back up file and not intended to be used as the main reference of that document. It is for the main reason that it will be difficult to view the correct content of the document since a shade of black will appear on the paper.
Thermal paper rolls are now covered with protective coating to reduced fading. It is now use for different type of laboratory machines. Examples of the type of machines that use thermal papers are Abbott, Textronics, Bausch and Lomb, Baxter, Boehringer Mannh, Paramax and many other machine types. When you visit a supermarket, try to observe the labels where you can find the price. The paper being use as a label is a thermal paper. The paper use on some cash registers also uses this type of paper. Nowadays thermal papers are use in various industries. Various sizes of thermal paper were manufactured to accommodate each need and purpose. It is also currently use in printing receipts on ATM machine banking transactions, adding machines and for credit card terminal receipt.
